it possibly could be. everyone headed back to work and school. a few clouds along the coast, another than that, no problems this morning -- coast, other than that, no problems this morning. this high pressure limited our rain chances yesterday and a similar pattern will hold true for today. 85 in clearwater beach this morning. 75 in lutz. 73 in brooksville. middle 70s inland but it's going to be a warm day. the average high is shot of getting a showers and thunderstorms to cool things down. again, a lot of use of the shades. coming up, we will look at the monday hour-by-hour. but first, a check of the roads. how is it going? pretty good drive. overall, a nice drive. we're going to talk about pinellas county. a collision reported for fhp northbound 275 around gandy boulevard. it's off on the side of the

that's always good news. and let's hop down here, a great drive across the sunshine skyway bridge. and overnight construction in sarasota that was tying up the eastbound lanes on university parkway as well as the ramps to i-75 from university. that's all cleared. and everything is back to normal. that's a look at weather and traffic. back to gene and gayle. >> all right. thank you so much. and breaking news overnight, a fire at a condo complex in palm harbor. the flames broke out shortly after midnight at palm harbor condos on coral landings boulevard. fire crews report the condo is unliable. you can see through a -- unlivable. you can see through the burned out window some of the damage there. no other units were damaged. investigators are now trying to figure out what caused the fire. and happening today, local leaders plan to address concerns over the zika virus. several non-travel related cases have been confirmed in the miami area in the past

spread to state's west coast, our area. 8 on your side's ryan hughes is live from tampa this morning. ryan, the mayor is hoping to prepare to keep us safe. how is he going to do that? >> reporter: exactly, gene. good morning. the mayor and code enforce. leaders plan to discuss ways to prevent the zika virus from spreading. it's easily transmitted by mosquitoes and they plan to use this home as a backdrop to show residents how to clean up the properties to rid them of mosquitoes. the mayor will city's efforts to protect tampa residents from the zika virus. there haven't been any non- travel related cases confirmed in the bay area but several have been reported in miami- dade county. gigi manes is on her way to virginia where she will stay with family members until her child is born. she tells us, this is her only option. >> he's our life. and he comes first.

back to school but they are going to be catching people speeding and passing those stopped buses. you know, fines, citations can range from $150 all the way to $450. now remember, you must stop for all school buses. as students leave and board the bus, when the buss are stopped, and when the red lights are flashing. that includes drivers on the other side of the street as well unless there's a median between or in caught speeding past buses while children are getting on and off. and putting those kids' lives in a dangerous situation. now here's a few other important reminders, allow yourself time to travel. watch for other vehicles. pedestrian, cyclists and again school buses. and pay attention to crossing guards and always slow down in school zones and remember, there are plenty of student who walk to and from school.

escapee. they arrested him after a car crash, handcuffed and put him in the back of a patrol car and just minutes later, he was gone. he is wanted on violation of probation and possession of a controlled substance and now he can add escape to that list. a final good-bye to a much love teacher killed by a drunk driver. over the weekend, family, friends and colleagues attended a funeral for caroline sign, the music teacher she and another music teacher were hit by a man police say was driving drunk and ran a red light. the other teacher is in serious but stable condition and friends say he is slowly recovering. he taught in tampa. well, the road to rio comes to a spectacular end with closing ceremonies. >> yeah, the games were filled with memorable moments that

richey road is recovering from a delicate operation at the sun coast spca. they removed a tumor from her eye. she only weighs 12-ounces. she was found abandoned on pennsylvania avenue in port richey. no one knows how she got there. and while we're on the subject of cats, it's national take your cat to the vet day. a majority of cat owners do not take their fe vet on a regular basis. they're so independent. >> yeah, self sufficient. they go to the bathroom on their own, give themselves baths. >> right. >> they could drive to the vet. >> maybe they should drive themselves to the vet. >> yeah. and it's time for weather and traffic on the 8s. >> cat, you're on your own. get yourself checked out. let's take a look at what's happening this morning. 80degrees, calm winds and humid out there. the humidity has extra bite to it this morning.

morning. a stray shower along the coast. a few isolated showers developing by noon. and they'll slowly start to push inland through the day, similar to yesterday. high temperature, 92. i don't think we will see that many thunderstorms. the rain chance only at 20%. no rain right now. and we've got some of of this shades of red starting to sneak into our area. and that with surface high pressure is going to squash our rain chances down to 20% for today. and with the onshore flow, we can't rule out a 1309ty shower through the first half of the day, along the coastline. and then the flow will drive the showers and thunderstorms inland. we will quiet down overnight. and a change coming for tuesday. moisture increases and watch the thunderstorm activity as it develops and it starts to push back towards the coast. more of a northeasterly flow setting up. and the rain chances go back to the typical 40%. 30% on wednesday. and highs red hot in the low to mid-90s. lows warm in the upper 70s.

morning. how is it looking? looking great out here. just keeps getting better and better. great drive across the bay area bridges. six or seven minutes across the howard frankland bridge. and on the courtney campbell causeway, just nine minutes from memorial highway all the way over to pinellas county. and let's take a live look, i-4 at kathleen road in the lakeland area. not seeing slow downs between lakeland through plant city and down to ybor city. looking very good on that interstate. and 275 at gandy boulevard, they have moved around the camera here. reports of an accident that was off to the shoulder. i don't see anything on the cameras. and there were never delay, traffic looks fantastic here in pinellas. that's a look at weather and traffic on the 8s. the labor day holiday is just around the corner. >> why you may want to consider a last minute get away. first, the recall involving two different automakers and the dangerous problem that needs to be fixed.
